BREACH Rules Reference

Use this page when playing the defender side of BREACH: hire defenders, purchase tools, name the defense, roll, and resolve the outcome.

Defender Instructions

Round Start

  1. Hire your team: Select 3 Defender Characters or change out characters. These are your Active Defenders.
Note: There are only 2 Situation Cards per attack type.
  2. Purchase your tools: Buy what your Budget Points can afford.
Remember: If you run out of Budget Points, the Attackers win, and the more Budget Points you have at the end of the round the more you get back.
  3. Select Defender: After hearing the Situation Card read by the Attackers, choose the Defender Character and tools you are going to use to best defend against the attack.
  4. Defend: Tell everyone which character is going to defend. If their Pro is listed as one of the Valid Defenses, you can add their Con to your defense roll. After the Attackers roll their attack, roll your defense, adding any modifiers or Defender tools as needed.
Note: Items can be used at any time. To be able to add modifiers to the defend roll, Your character and items need to align to the correct defense. See the Attack & Defense Categories if you need a guide.
  5. Resolve: Use the Rolling & Resolving page to determine how damaging the attack was and how many Budget Points you should gain at the end of the round.

Round End

Rolling & Resolving
