BREACH Rules Reference

Card Terms & Effects

Use this page when a character or item card changes the normal flow of play, including advantage, resting, purchased cards, timing, and discard language.

Card Terms & Effects

Some character and item cards change the normal flow of a roll. When a card uses one of these terms, follow the card first, then continue the normal rules.

Advantage / Disadvantage

When a roll has advantage, roll two d20s and use the higher result. When a roll has disadvantage, roll two d20s and use the lower result. If a roll has both advantage and disadvantage, they cancel out and the player rolls one d20.

Using Multiple Characters

A team may use one or more characters when attacking or defending. All selected characters’ Pros and Cons apply to the roll. Any character used to attack or defend becomes Resting and cannot attack or defend during the next round. After sitting out one full round, the character may be used again.

Available vs. In Play

Available cards are known purchasable options. They do not give bonuses and cannot be used until purchased. In Play cards have been purchased and may be used only when their rules and the current Situation allow it.

Purchased Cards

Purchased item cards stay in play unless the card says otherwise. If a card says it can only be used once, discard it after resolving the effect. If a card has a use limit, track that limit and remove or ignore the card after its final use.

One-Time and Limited-Use Cards

Some cards say they can only be used once, once per game, or a limited number of times. After the final allowed use, the card is no longer available for the rest of the game.

Timing

This round means the current attack/defense sequence. Next round means the next full round after the current one ends. Next setup phase means the next time teams buy or prepare cards before resolving another situation.

Modifier Set to 0

If a card says a modifier is set to 0, ignore that modifier for the stated timing window. The card is still in play unless another effect removes it.

Cannot Effects

If a card says a team, character, or item cannot do something, that restriction overrides normal rules for the stated timing window.

Discard / Removed from the Game

A discarded card leaves the current hand or play area. A card removed from the game is not available again during that game.
